Our next big event:

MIRTH AND MAGIC SHOW

This family-friendly event will be held at the Isabel Reader Theatre, and this year’s date is Saturday, May 24, 2008, so mark it on your calendars!

This year the dynamic Murray Hatfield will be our MC. The 1st half of the evening will feature five acts competing for the Wansborough Comedy Magic Trophy, and the audience will get to vote for the winner at intermission time! The second half of the evening will showcase some club talent, finishing with headliner Shawn Farquhar! Tickets are $6 and are available at Murray’s Trick and Joke Shop.

LAST YEAR’S LON DINGWELL MYI TROPHY COMPETITION - April 20th, 2007

The Magic Youth International Victoria Chapter held their Annual Competition at 7:00, April 20th, at The Langford Firehall, 2625 Peatt Road, and their family and friends as well as ALL Victoria Magic Circle members attended for an audience 50 strong! For those who do not know, the MYI are magicians under 16 who are members of the IBM. The winner of this competition was Lucas Kavanagh. Lucas was then invited to perform on the BIG stage at Mirth and Magic on May 12th, see below:

LAST YEAR’S MIRTH & MAGIC - May 12th 2007

This family-friendly event happened at the 300 seat Isabel Reader Theatre in Langford. The 1st half of the evening featured six acts competing for the Wansborough Comedy Magic Trophy, and the audience got to vote for the winner at intermission time! The second half of the evening showcased some club talent, and featured the presentation of the Trophy. Our members have a great time on stage as well as behind the scenes working as stage hands and sound/lighting techs. This event is open to the Public, and tickets are available from members OR at Murray’s Trick and Joke Shop a few months before the show.. Ticket cost is typically between $6 & $8 per seat.

This year, our CLOSING act was members MURRAY HATFIELD & TERESA, and the event was hosted by TONY ENG... Lots of talent shone throughout the show and the winner of the Wansborough Trophy was CAPTAIN SUBMARINE (aka Ben L’Heureux).

LAST YEAR’S ANNUAL SUMMER PICNIC - was Sunday, July 15th - from 2 to 6:00 at The Selkirk Guest House, 934 Selkirk Avenue, Victoria.

The VMC and MYI members and their immediate families and friends were invited to attend this casual and fun yearly event.. We supplid the burgers & dogs with all the trimmings, and chips and pop, and club members pitched in to make a great event with good food, sun and fun, and performance by youth and adult magicians.

WE ALSO ENJOYED A FABULOUS WACKY WEDNESDAY, OUR ‘ADULT NIGHT OUT’ FEATURING FOOD AND GOOD CLUB TALENT AT THE FLEET CLUB LAST FALL, PLUS WE ENJOYED OUR ANNUAL BANQUET IN JANUARY AT THE EDELWEISS CLUB FEATURING CLOSEUP BY OUR LOCAL MAGIICANS AND A FAB STAGE SHOW BY JOHN KAPLAN.
