This year our first show was:

On Wednesday evening, 19 September, six members of the Club put on a special show in honour of Ross and Hazel Simms at the Lion's Cove senior's residence.

Af ter a pleasant dinner reminiscing w ith Ross and Hazel a good sized audience collected for the show . Mike Brough was in great form w ith his unique humour and funny magic. With the help of Rachel, a delightful six year old, he showed just how strong the paper hat trick can be. He introduced Ron Bell w ho told a cute story about silk screening using an ancient Chinese bag and many Chinese incantations to print a chosen card on a silk scarf .

Next up Shayne King drew gasps and laughs with Zombie, his very powerful award winning rope routine and finishing with the snowstorm effect.

Our Mad Hatter, Ray Parker brought energy (Wow ! Where does he get it f rom!) and fun with lots of sight gags and comedy magic such as the Pom Poms, balloon stuf f ,streamer f rom mouth and Professor Cheer.

We ended in great style with Tony and Ann, longtime friends of the Simms, doing a graceful and mysterious series of tricks: appearing and vanishing silks w ith colour changes and neat variations, the always incredible $5 to $100 bill change, the Crystal Cylinder, Chinese St icks with Tony's wonderful Tissel, Tassel patter and finally, what else, a beautiful rendition of the Linking Rings.

Mike held everything together making for a fast paced and very enjoyable show . Ross and Hazel were so grateful for the Club's effort, it made all who performed feel very good that we could do this for two of our own who we cherish dearly. Such is the power of magic---how fortunate we are!
