Though every aspect of the running of the club needs volunteers (such as Public Shows, Executive Committee, Lectures, Contests and other Special Events, Newsletter/Website, MYI Support), we feel a special page is deserved to outline the following opportunities:

Seniors Volunteer Magic Shows

Mount Edwards Court 13 October

Two members of the Club, Donald Dunphy and Ron Bell put on a show for about 20 residents of the Court. We had planned for three but Hal Weaver made a sensible decision not to brave the violent waters between Piers Island and VI.

Ron did his Ball and Glass Trick, Bag of Beijing and Saskatchewan Rope. Donald was in good form with a variety of silk effects, the always surprising T&R Newspaper, a bill change and an interesting, improvised Linking Ring routine. One of his rings broke(?) developing a large gap which made some moves impossible. He did a fine job adapting to this "difficulty"!

Central Care Home 20 October

For this venue we had Ron, Donald and Hal Weaver who navigated the straits without incident! Again about 20 residents came out to watch us. Ron started things off with his Ball Trick. Hal Weaver followed with his own version of the Sign Trick, all about getting confusing directions in an airport with the direction signs pointing every which way! A nice routine. He moved on to two clever mental type tricks. One where he was able to discern the Christmas song being silently played by one of the residents and the other finding who in the audience was holding "Buster" the balloon despite his eyes being covered with heavy duty tape and a metal shield.

Donald finished the show with a pretty flower and silk production followed by using a change bag in a cute story using a black and white silk which change to a little caterpillar silk which then morphs into a very large, multi-coloured butterfly silk.
